We can't believe that you can get such good quality for this price. The perfect choice for our home after hours of searching. Assembly is easy, but not if you follow the instructions that came with these stools. Here are the points you need to watch.1. Don't attach the side rungs to the backrest assembly first as shown. Lay the backrest/legs assembly on the floor with the back cushion facing up. Then attach the seat to the back legs and LOOSELY tighten the bolts.2. Attach the front legs to the seat - again loosely. The 4 legs and seat assembly will be very wobbly - this is what you want. Oh, the front legs are marked "left" and "right". I think they have a different concept of left and right in China. If you put the legs on the wrong side, you will be cursing as I did when I tried to assemble the thing. I repeat - DO NOT ATTACH THE FRONT LEGS TO THE SEAT FIRST AND THEN TRY ATTACHING THAT ASSEMBLY TO THE BACK LEGS AND THE SIDE RUNGS. You will need four hands to do this.3. With all the legs attached to the seat, insert the side and front rungs into the holes in the legs. Note that the front rung is shorter than the side rungs. At this point the entire assembly will be wobbly. Now you can tighten all of the bolts holding the legs and seat together. The whole stool is now fully assembled and will hold together well enough to finish the last step.4. Now is when you insert the wood screws (you need your own Phillips Head screwdriver - it is not supplied). There are pocket holes (diagonal) in the bottoms of all rungs - be sure you inserted the rungs into the legs with these holes facing the floor, otherwise you will see them when the stool is upright. These screws are self-tapping wood-screws and after they are advanced through the rungs, they must tap into the hard wood of the legs (i.e. the legs are not pre-drilled). This will attempt to push the rung out of the hole and create a gap between the rung and the leg. To prevent this, you will either need another person to hold the legs tightly together or better, if you have one, use a bar clamp as I did to hold everything tightly. The clamp of course would need to be able to staddle both legs. But doing it this way will make it much easier to assemble.Cons: The only negative (other than the poor instructions) was that one of the stools was missing two lock washers (they call them spring washers), but they gave me two extra flat washers. I found what I needed in my workshop. The lock washer is not critical but it could cause the bold to loosen over time. Also, one of the rungs on one stool had no pocket hole on one end. Again, that was not critical since the rungs are keyed into the leg anyway.So now you have it. I bought four of these stools. The first one took me at least a half hour to assemble because I tried to follow the instructions. Once I figured out my way of doing it, each remaining stool took me less than 10 minutes to assemble.
