I have two of these mats and I swear by them. They've lasted several years so far and no sign of wear or cracking whatsoever. They are definitely more pricey than others, but if the mat comes rolled up, it's not strong enough. These mats come flat in a thin box because you can't really bend them that much. They are plenty thick to handle a heavy-duty chair (like Aerons) and some heft to the person sitting on it. Just spend the extra few bucks on these. You'll be happy with them.I had ordered several other chair mats for mid length pile carpet (actually berber). None of them were sturdy enough to roll an office chair on and were sent back. This one comes shipped flat and is thick enough that there are no dents from the chair rollers. Love it. If it stays like this as long as the one I threw out (10 years) I will consider myself getting a bargain.Product is good quality and right price as advertised.I'm glad I bought it because I had a carpet that was thick and very difficult to use whenever I was at the desk where my lap top sits.So far, so good! What a difference the product makes---protects the carpet and allows me to very easilyroll around. And best of all: the vendor ships their product flat / not shipped rolled up! That is a big plus in my evaluation!Update 12 months after purchase:Sadly, the map finally cracked. It's a small crack, although I hear the mat make a noise each time my chair goes over it, so I suspect it'll increase in size.Update 11 months after purchase:The mat is still holding up extremely well. I've not noticed any significant indentation and no cracking, so I'm very happy with the durability. The only problem I constantly have with the mat is that it moves around a lot. I don't scoot around a lot on the mat - just the normal up and down from the chair and every couple days I have to reposition the mat. Over about a 3 day period, it'll move at least 3 or 4 inches until my chair is off one side of it. Not a big problem taking the chair off and sliding it back into place - just a pain to keep doing it. It looks like if they'd made the feet just a little longer, it would likely hold its position better.Original:Finding a good chair mat is rough. After reading so many reviews, I was about to give up and just replace the carpet if it ever came down to it. Fortunately, this mat has turned out to be better than average.I've got medium carpet, so finding something that is durable enough to work is not easy. I've got an office chair with 5 wheels and unfortunately, I'm a fairly healthy sized individual, so there's some weight on this mat. I work from my home office and often am sitting on this mat 8 to 14 hours a day, most every day. So it definitely is getting a workout. I get up every few hours, so it gets a break every now and then. The one thing that surprised me is how much this mat moves. At least once a week I have to reposition it - its always moving back. Maybe trying to run away - not sure. It's not a big deal, however, just the hassle of moving the chair out and sliding it around is a pain. Not the end of the world though.Durability has been pretty good so far. I've been using this mat for almost 6 months and there are no signs of cracking and very little noticeable indenting. There is just a slight indentation here and there, although I try to turn my chair wheels into a different position every so often so they don't get used to the same spot. I'd suspect if the mat stayed put and I didn't rotate the wheels, I would get indents. I'd gladly accept some preventative maintenance compared to cracking and not working. One big negative, unfortunately as my shin will attest, is that the edges on this mat are like razor blades. Somehow I've managed to not kick my toes on it. On my last mat, I tore open a toe, so I'm a little more aware of watching for it. I was on the floor one day repositioning the mat and I happened to run my shin across the edge. It was about like skinning a fish. Related to this, when I'm sitting on the mat, the edges come up just a bit as it curls. It's just a very small amount, although I've had other people coming over to look at my screen and kick their toe on it.So while it's not perfect, it is the best carpet mat I've owned so far. It arrived unfolded. I'm not sure this thing could or should ever be folded, considering it's thickness. I'm not sure it would have taken that much effect to have rounded the edges and sometimes when I feel adventurous, I may try to do that myself. Otherwise, after 6 months, it's still functioning the same as when I bought it. Considering I've got 1,800+ hours on it, I'd say it is well worth the purchase price. If it only holds up a year or two, I'd still consider it a good product and repurchase.I like that it doesn't buckle under the weight of the chair and my weight of 162 lbs.I bought mine in March of 2019. I recently realized it started to crack in certain areas. I technically have medium pile carpet but due to wear over a couple of decades, it's currently closer to low pile. I sit on a Aeron chair (with stock wheels replaced with rollerblade style wheels for a quieter roll) and I weigh about 190lbs. Side note: me swapping the wheels on my chair could be partially the culprit for my mat cracking. Anyone with a basic understanding of physics would know what I mean. Since the pandemic, I've been working from home so the mat has been used at least 12 hours a day for the past year and a half. I have to say this has kept up very well compared to many others I've used over the years. I actually enjoyed it so much that 5 months in (later in 2019) I bought another one for my office. Anyway A little over 2 years have passed and its' started to crack. I actually noticed the area that cracked is isolated to a specific area. After a little further investigation, I noticed that when I put my chair into a comfortable working position, I have a wheel right at that location where the cracking has occurred. I guess with the way the wheels roll, it just prefers that position :) because its there 7 out of 10 times. The cracks are small as you can see in the images but they are still cracks. Now that it is more noticeable, it has been bothering me more to the point where I may replace it or get the one from the office which is still in pristine condition. Some people on here are mentioning that they thought these mats will never crack. If any manufacturer is claiming that, I won't believe them because overtime it will crack. I was really hoping for a good 5 years before the mat started cracking which is why I took one star off but otherwise, I still really enjoy this mat and now that there is a 2020 revision of this mat, part of me is curious and wants to know if that one is any better. But I have to stop spending money! Also for those who claim the mat cracked after a couple of months, i would question what kind of carpet they have it on and what kind of chair they use as well. Not saying they are necessarily at fault but I also originally did some extensive research on knowing what kind of mat I should buy depending on where I'm placing it. No one at Office Depot really knew but thankfully I had the internet. But to give you guys when I did my research, it was a time that predates youtube.I weigh 200 lbs and this chair mat does not deform under chair wheels so the chair rolls freely when I want to move around.. This mat is the best! Previous mats would deform and create low spots where the wheels would stay and make it hard to move from.I received my chair mat quickly. It arrived flat as described. The mat doesn’t appear to scratch or bend under weight which is exactly what I was looking for.I placed in on top of low pile carpet. It slides every time I move my chair or even step on it. The little prongs are not long enough to hold it in place. It is extremely frustrating.I use it under my desk and was very pleased with the quality of it. Very sturdy. Hoping it will last for yrs as I don't think there is any warranty on it.This mat always moves when the chair is moved on medium pile carpet Very expensive and very unhappy as have to keep moving THE MAT everyday. GURR. the little pokey things are not longer enough to grab carpet. VERY DISATISTEDJe l'ai depuis trois semaines seulement mais le tapis semble faire le travail
