This arrived today and is of better quality than I had expected. Current price is $45 USD + tax and is certainly worth the price. Looks good on the floor (a nice dark gray color against my off-white carpeting) and feels good under my desk chair wheels with less sliding than my previous hard plastic mat. Added bonus being that it increases the sound dampening in my home office, which is nice for meetings. I can use my computer audio instead of a headset without sounding like I'm in the bathroom. I don't think this mat makes a TON of difference on the sound, but enough to be noticeable to me in my current set up. That said, my chair rolling around on this mat is much quieter than the hard plastic or glass floor protectors. Full disclosure: while I am using this on a "high pile" padded carpet floor in my office, I have an old plastic floor mat underneath (which has cracked severely with use). Therefore, I cannot speak to whether this is effective on its own for thicker carpet. But, if you have an older, worn-out mat underneath, I can affirm that this works great on top of that for even the thickest carpeting. The underside of the mat has great gripping properties and does not slip and slide around on smooth, flat surfaces. All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase, and would highly recommend. My partner will be needing a floor mat for their home office in the coming months, and I’ll be singing the praises of this product when she is making her decision.
