I was hesitant to purchase anything other than glass - this purchase was for a carpeted floor. I was skeptical of how well it would hold over carpet (nothing's worse than wheels over cheap plastic over carpet. I won't say it has the firmness of glass - but it is extremely firm. I can roll without any divets. What I appreciate most - it does not slide at all. I've had this for over a month now, and it's exactly where I first parked it.While it may not have firmness 100% to glass, the significantly cheaper cost coupled with how easy it was to bring upstairs by myself - I think this is a very good product. No regrets.UPDATE: November 4, 2021... I got in contact directly with customer support for the company at "[email protected]" with my concerns, pictures of the cracks, and pdf of the order receipt. They replied: "we are unable to send replacements at this time. We have refunded your purchase so you may repurchase the item if you wish. Please allow 2-3 days for the refund to reflect in your Amazon account."It DOES appear that the refund is processing. :) My best guess is that they are unable to get quick access to their factory floor due to pandemic shipping delays (I'm totally guessing this). Maybe that is the reason they chose not to send a replacement this time? Instead they refunded for one mat and suggested repurchasing. Seems odd. While I appreciate the refund, I'm still out a chairmat. And I do appreciate that they did respond to my inquiry, I guess I would have appreciated a bit more transparency as to why they refunded and suggested repurchasing.UPDATE: November 3, 2021... The replacement version broke. Same spot as last time. (see Sept 4 update). Last time this happened, we tried reaching out to them and they honored their warranty. I'm not sure if they will be as "kind" this time around. Actually, it looks like my "warranty window" with Amazon closed last week! Argh! So, now I have NO WAY to reach out to them. So, I've changed my rating on this item until I get a replacement. Seems fair to me. As of right now, I'm suggesting to anyone that is interested in these items, to only expect about a year of life out of them. However, as long as they are willing to honor their warranty, I'll stick with them until the end of said warranty.UPDATE: September 4, 2020... It broke. Two large cracks. Normal use, not mistreated in any way. It broke after just under a year--so hard to believe! The website says there is a 10 year warranty. We'll be reaching out to them in the morning. On a positive note, we've actually come to love these items. Yes they drift on high pile carpets (as we've mentioned below); however, we actually think of this as more of a feature rather than a flaw now now. 1) we get more exercise moving the chair off of the pad and picking it up to slide it back into place, then we put the chair back on. 2) we actually find it's a LOT easier to clean the carpet underneath the pad because 1) the pad doesn't stick to the carpet and 2) the pad isn't super flimsy and can be managed by one hand while the other hand is running the vacuum cleaner. Some have suggested using sticky or glue based sprays to encourage the bottom of the mat to stick to the carpet. We're not interested in putting sticky stuff on carpets that don't belong to us.Based upon the promise of a 10 year warranty, I'm liking this company more and more."Apartment living" means we don't get to pick the carpet that comes in the apartment-the carpet is a very high pile. We knew we needed good chairmats because when we moved our old ones in after the move they had those "low places" and began to crack within a few days from the carpet being too high of a pile.Naturally, we chose Gorilla Grip (Polycarbonate) Chair Mats because we heard that they don't sag on any carpet. We've had these (2 products) for over a month, we work from home, and use these many, many hours a day--every day. They are very sturdy and they are holding up great Their design flaw is that they move--constantly! After about an hour of use, they will have moved several inches. So, our 3rd or 4th stretching break (every 20 minutes or so) involve a process of rolling our chairs off of our mats, sliding the mats back into place, and then putting the chairs back on the mats. We revisited the idea ofAt first, we tried to be optimistic; however, it's getting really frustrating at this point. It seems like the small bumps or blunt "spikes" on the bottom of the mats are just not long enough to do any good. They are about 2 to 3mm.We take issue with the product description by Gorilla Grip that claims that it is designed to stay in place on HIGH PILE carpets...Quote: "The chair mat’s backing has a studded underside that helps to keep the mat in place on most carpets (even high pile carpets)!" (Source: Gorilla Grip dot com info and the product information here on Amazon)...Our response to that claim: Nope... Doesn't do that... Instead, the mat floats on high pile carpets and you'll need to "adjust for drift" periodically.Perhaps there is some other product that Gorilla Grip provides that is supposed to keep these things from sliding on high pile carpets? We certainly would like to know what that would be--aside from Gorilla glue or tape--this is an apartment and we would like to keep our security deposit. :)Summary:In short, we're pleased with the sturdiness and durability--can't praise those aspects enough. But, please be advised that this product doesn't seem to be well-designed to stay in place on high pile carpets. If you're looking for something made for high pile carpets... just move along to another product. This is my fourth chair mat, and in the less than two weeks that I've used it I've liked it a lot. It's not too soft or too hard, hasn't cracked or dimpled, and I haven't detected any odors. I recently realized that there are wide and very shallow depressions where the chair's wheels tend to sit, but I had to look intensely and run my fingers over the same area multiple times to detect them, and they don't cause the chair to settle in those positions. I believe those very slight depressions are due to having had office chairs on different chair mats at the same location over the course of years; i.e. the carpet is slightly depressed in that area. If its durability persists, this would be the best chair mat I've owned. This mat is much more effective on carpet with a heavy chair than my recent office supply store mat. However, I have yet to be able to remove the label glue from the mat. It took about 15 minutes to scrape the label off. Trying to dissolve the remaining glue created a glue blur.I don't usually consider it fair to downrate a product/seller for issues with Amazon fulfillment & logistics, but since the product description on Amazon and printed labelling on the mats both announce their claims that the mats ship flat SO loudly, I feel that should put some extra responsibility on the seller to work that out with Amazon ahead-of-time, and not let them send me a NOT FLAT box containing a mat with a GIANT LABEL on it stating "DO NOT BEND - SHIPS FLAT" that is rolled up into a cylinder.I purchased 2 mats initially (1 with lip and 1 without because I have two different shaped desks) and the first pair did indeed come flat in sleeves made by taping the ends of a shipping box together into a 2D pocket rather than folding the flaps into the usual 3D box. The one with lip arrived first , so I tried it for size under both desks, and decided both that a full rectangle mat would still fit under the desk with narrower "leg room" and that I wanted a third mat to bridge the gap between my work and personal computer desks (lined up on the same wall with a smallish gap in between) so that it would be easy to go between them. I set up a return for the mat with lip, and ordered two more full rectangle mats to go with the one that was already on the way.Two days later, I received all 3 rectangle mats. The one from the first order was in another makeshift sleeve like the one with lip, but the two from the second order were both rolled up and stuffed into boxes, not even taped into a cylinder, so they both sprang out of the boxes with enough force to really hurt someone (although luckily did not) as soon as I started pulling them out. I'd read the other reviews and knew it was a risk, but it looked to me like they both unrolled flat and would be fine, so I took them upstairs to the carpet. Unfortunately, I found that one end of each mat curled upward from the carpet almost a full centimeter (see photo), which causes more of a bump than you might think, and also makes it so the mats get pushed a little bit further apart each time I roll from one to another. So now I'm waiting for a third order to arrive with replacements for the bent ones, but so far I'm only at a 50% success rate thus far so I'm skeptical. To be clear, I do really like the mat that's flat, and even the two warped ones are on my floor until the new ones show up because they're a major improvement from scooting the chair across the carpet, even with the temporary "speed bumps." Once I have 3 flat ones that lay with the edges even, I plan to tape them together with some Crystal Clear Gorilla Tape to remove any further shifting while rolling between them, that stuff is super strong and super clear just like the mats so it should be practically invisible. Will update when the new mats arrive. Wish me luck! lolThis mat worked great for about 2 and a half months, but then one day it cracked after I sat down in my office chair (as I normally do, and I'm not a heavy person at all). This isn't really the bad part, as things sometimes break. What I'm extremely disappointed with is the seller, Daria Shop. They sell this product, but when asked about honoring the warranty (which is 10 years), they don't want anything to do with that and send the hot potato to the manufacturer, Gorilla Grip. Then, when I contacted Gorilla Grip, they said that "Any product purchased from a third party seller voids the warranty, as we can not guarantee the condition and quality of the product."So now I'm stuck with a product that broke after less than 3 months, when it is supposed to have a 10 year warranty. Neither Daria Shop nor Gorilla Grip are interested in keeping this customer happy. Please be aware if you buy this product from a third party.I have bought hundreds of things from Amazon over the years. This is my very first negative review. I recently moved into a house that has carpet, so I needed to get a mat for under my Aeron office chair. I spent time researching the mat, and was impressed by the seller's statements of strength and durability, so I ordered this mat. Unfortunately, it only lasted 33 days. I was sitting in my Aeron chair and I wasn't even moving when I heard a big crack and looked down at a big crack in the mat. I must have received a defective item, because this is not normal. I am a 6'2" man who is 200 lbs, and the Aeron chairs is a quality chair and the feet are in good working order. I can't see any reason that this should happen, so I decided to give the Seller the benefit of the doubt and contact them to see if they could resolve my problem. That was a waste of time. All I got from the "Daria Shop" Sellers was a boilerplate email stating "Since this order is outside the 30 day window we can no longer accept your return". Clearly the Seller is not interested in providing good customer services, and provides only the absolute minimum service required by Amazon. I will not being doing business again with this Seller. Buyer Beware! The seller sold me an office mat that is cracked. This cracked office is a DANGEROUS SAFETY concern since we always walk in our office barefoot/ or wearing socks. The cracks in this UNACCEPTABLE office mat are also dangerous for our cat’s paws. The seller wanted to know why I waited a month to report this. First of all, an office mat should last many years. This one hasn’t even lasted for a month. In the past we bought cheaper office mats from stores that lasted for several years. Secondly, I explained that since I BROKE MY WRIST, could NOT ASAP report this BADLY CRACKED OFFICE MAT that was SOLD to a SELLER who refuses to hive me a refund. Instead she was trying to blame me for the damage which is a false accusation. I told the seller to stop harassing me like this with such a false accusation. I do NOT recommend an office mat from this seller since we’ve only had it for a month.. and it is ALREADY CRACKED and therefore this mat is DANGEROUS for our feet and also ours cat’s paws. The cracks are sharp and unacceptable …since an office mat should last for many years. This mat cracked the first week! The crack quickly grew and the whole mat was in pieces! I ended up buying a tempered glass one which didn't cost much more and works great. Save your money and buy the glass one.Seems well made, haven’t had long enough to comment on durability but happy so far. Doesn’t dent.
